John is joined by Calabrian pianist Roberto Boschelli in a performance of "Metamorphosis: music for meditation." Originally composed for the Royal College of Music Great Exhibitionists Concert Series, "Metamorphosis" takes the audience on a 1 hour listening journey, characterised by gradual, hypnotic shifts in mood and musical texture. The piece was inspired by the drawings of Dutch graphic artist MC Escher, whose clever transformations of tessellated images are now reimagined in a quasi-minimalist style akin to the music of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, and Julius Eastman. Take advantage of this opportunity in these longer days of summer to slow down and reflect on the changes we observe both in ourselves and in our constantly transforming world.
Tickets available online or at the door. Doors open at 16:30 and the concert begins at 17:00. Refreshments will be served before and after the concert.
